Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Elise Stefanik and Senator Marco Rubio have joined forces in a letter addressed to Department of Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, calling on the Biden Administration to take action against the advancement of Communist Chinese technology through the use of American innovations.

The letter specifically targets the recent collaboration between American company Intel and Chinese tech giant Huawei. Stefanik and Rubio express their concerns over Huawei incorporating Intel's cutting-edge chip technology into their latest computers, enabling them to enhance their capabilities, particularly in Artificial Intelligence (AI) tasks. The lawmakers emphasize that such actions could potentially aid the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in circumventing U.S. technology restrictions and gaining an advantage in the AI race.

Highlighting the Department of Commerce's role in overseeing export licenses, the letter criticizes the approval of licenses that permit the transfer of advanced American technology to Huawei. The lawmakers assert that this negligence in enforcing export controls could bolster Huawei's position in the global market and contribute to the advancement of the People's Liberation Army's military capabilities.

Citing Huawei's growth and increased market share, Stefanik and Rubio stress the urgency of prohibiting the flow of American ingenuity to entities that pose a threat to national security and technological sovereignty. They underscore the necessity for stringent measures to safeguard American innovations and prevent their exploitation by foreign adversaries.

The full text of the letter can be accessed through the official website of Congresswoman Elise Stefanik.
