House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik recently appeared on Fox News with Kayleigh McEnany to address the ongoing House-wide investigation into antisemitism on college campuses. Stefanik emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of Jewish students and holding universities accountable for their actions.

Stefanik highlighted the significance of the probe, stating, “It’s not just oversight of U.S. taxpayer dollars to these institutions. It’s student visas for foreign students who are harassing Jewish students, who are attacking Jewish students on campus. We need to work with law enforcement to address the issue of outside agitators and ensure the safety of Jewish students on campus.”

Regarding Columbia University President Shafik's testimony to Congress, Stefanik expressed concern over potential falsehoods, stating, “You can’t lie to Congress. That’s a federal offense.” She called for thorough document requests to uncover the truth behind the alleged lack of investigations into pro-Hamas professors at Columbia.

Stefanik did not mince words when discussing the need for accountability, especially at Columbia University. She criticized the university for failing to take appropriate action to address antisemitism on campus, stating, “Columbia had not taken adequate action to hold those pro-Hamas professors accountable by suspending them and expelling them from campus, to hold the students accountable by expelling them from campus, and to protect Jewish students. They failed on all those counts.”

In response to the situation at Columbia, Stefanik was unequivocal in her call for action, declaring, “I was the first Member to call for her resignation. It’s clear that it’s out of control at Columbia. Jewish students have not been protected on Columbia’s campus, and it is required by Title VI, the Executive Order that protects Jewish students.”

Stefanik emphasized the role of House Republicans in overseeing and addressing issues of antisemitism on college campuses, asserting, “House Republicans are committed to protecting Jewish students, condemning antisemitism, and combating woke radicalization in higher education.”
